New Delhi: India reported 20,799 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, Union Ministry reported. The recovery rate at 97.89 per cent accounted for 26,718 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,31,21,247. The daily positivity rate stood at 2.10 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 35 consecutive days.
The number of active cases stood at 2,64,458 accounting for 0.78 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 6,099 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 180 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,48,997.
The worst-hit state Maharashtra resumed physical schooling for classes 5 to 12 from today. So far the schools were permitted to conduct physical classes only in areas recording a low infection count. Northeastern Stat Mizoram continues to witness a surge since July.
The new travel guidelines issued by the Centre would be effective from today. All passengers arriving from the UK would have to quarantine mandatorily for 10 days irrespective of their vaccination status.
India’s cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination coverage reached 90.79 crores, the Union Health Ministry. Nearly, 23.46 beneficiaries were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. As per the information given in by ICMR, 57.42 crore infected samples have been tested cumulatively.
