Thane: The court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate and Joint Civil Judge has summoned lyricist Javed Akhtar on November 12. This summons stems from the suit filed by the RSS activist Vivek Champanerkar who seeks Re1 compensation from the Bollywood celebrity. Champanerkar in his petition had stated that the remarks made by the former member of Parliament were aimed at belittling RSS image amongst the common public.

According to the suit, “The plaintiff states he has been hurt by defendant’s defamatory statement to tarnish the image of plaintiff’s organization and hence he is in loss of rupee one for which the defendant is liable to compensate him.”

Earlier this month, Javed Akhtar in a conversation with a known media channel had issued a statement that read- ‘ring wing all over the world has an uncanny similarity” that triggered a controversy in the political world. Elaborating his statement he further said,” The Taliban in an Islamic country. These people want to make a Hindutva Rashtra.”

The suit filed against Akhtar was presented by Advocate Aditya Mishra, who argued stating that the defendant (Javed) had issued derogatory comments against the RSS while appearing on a private news channel.
