New Delhi: The UK’s travel policy has been updated to include Covishield as a permitted vaccine. From October 04th 4:00 AM onwards if you are vaccinated under an approved vaccination program in the UK, Europe, USA or vaccine program overseas you will qualify as fully vaccinated.
Although Indians who have been double-vaccinated with the shot must still be quarantined, citing “vaccination certification concerns.” The UK government exclaimed that it is “working with India to expand recognition of vaccine certificate”. Formulations of the 4 mentioned vaccines, such as AstraZeneca Covishield, AstraZeneca Vaxzevria, and Modern Takeda, qualify as licensed vaccines,” according to updated UK criteria.
Whereas, 2 doses of vaccine are required for a full course under 2 different approved programs for example UK and USA, Australia and Japan, Europe and Canada. Passengers are permitted to combine 2 different kinds of vaccines for example Oxford/AstraZeneca and Covishield. Until October 04th combine vaccination is only permitted if you are vaccinated in the UK, Europe, and the USA or UK overseas vaccine program.
Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla had reported yesterday that “the non-recognition of Covishield is a discriminating policy and impacts our citizens travelling to the UK. The External Affairs Minister has raised the issue strongly with the new UK foreign secretary. I am told that certain assurances have been given that this issue will be resolved.”
