New Delhi: India will soon lift export restrictions on Covid-19 Vaccine. India will resume the export of surplus Covid-19 vaccine by next month, quoted Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Monday a day before PM Modi visits the US where the issue was most likely to be addressed.
Mandaviya further notified that in October, more than 30 crore doses and over 100 crore doses are expected to be received by the government in the next 3 months. By December, the government also plans to vaccinate all its 94.4 crore, adults, with at least a dose to 61% so far. Because of the number of vaccines, India has delivered and others in India have delivered, we are coming close to the point where there is more than enough vaccine stock, especially with us scaling up even further for this year.
Addressing the media, the minister said that the effort is part of the ‘Vaccine Maitri’ programme and to meet the country’s commitment to the Covax global pool. This is in line with our motto of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’. However, vaccinating our own India Citizens is the most immediate thing for the government, he said.
He underlined that, due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unrelenting efforts and leadership, India was also carrying out research and production on Covid vaccines, highlighting the importance of indigenous research and production of Covid vaccines in India.
