Punjab: Recently announced CM of Punjab, would take his oath at 11 am today in Chandigarh sources reported. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi would also be attending the ceremony. It was earlier speculated that Rahul Gandhi is unlikely to be present at the swearing ceremony of the new CM. It is further informed that the ceremony would be a small scale event where several leaders are unlikely to be seen.

Charanjit Singh Channi is scheduled to take an oath today at 11 am as the 16th CM of the state. He was announced as the CM on Sunday after Former CM Amarinder Singh stepped down abruptly a day earlier.

After Channi was announced the successor of Amarinder; Congress State Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu congratulated the former and took to his Twitter stating, “ Historic!! Punjab’s first Dalit CM-Designate… Will be written with Golden letter in History. A tribute to the spirit of the Constitution and the Congress !! Congratulations @ CHARANJITCHANNI Bai.” Outgoing Minister Amarinder also congratulated Charanjit Singh.

Charanjit Singh is a Dalit leader and headed the department of Technical Education under the former CM’s leadership.
