Hyderabad: After the much-speculated news of the arrest of the rape and murder accused of a six-year-old girl and the protests staged by the kin of the family, the Hyderabad Police Commissioner, Anjani Kumar on Tuesday announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh on Pallkonda Raju.  The police released the photograph and gave in identifications details of the accused. As per the description, Raju is 30 years old and was 5 feet 9 inches in height. They also pointed out tattoos on his hands that read ‘Mounika’. It was also informed that he was an alcohol addict and had been missing since the girl was found dead inside his house.

The girl was reportedly missing from her home in the Colony of Singareni, in Hyderabad on September 9. Following which she was found in the house of the neighbour,  dead and wrapped in a bedsheet. Initial reports had said the accused had been arrested. However, later the news was retracted.

Several leaders and celebrities took to their microblogging site and expressed anguish over the incident. Telangana Labour Minister Chamakura Malla Reddy tweeted about providing aid to the family. He said, “Accused in case of rape & murder should be encountered. We will nab the accused and encounter him. We will provide aid to the family. We’ll console them.”
