Chhattisgarh: In Chhattisgarh today i.e. on 3rd September, all government offices will remain closed.  Chhattisgarh employees-officers will carry out the Pen-Bandh-Torch movement.  The protest is held in demand of the Employees-Officers Federation to release the dearness allowance. They are agitating for their 14-point demands including dearness allowance.  Due to the closure of government offices today, the general public would have issues in their government work-related processing.

According to Vijay Jha, state president of Chhattisgarh Employees-Officers Federation (CEOF) and spokesperson of Officer Employees Federation, there is a 14-point demand related to pending demands of government servants.  After the state level meeting, it has been decided that all government offices will be closed today. The protestors would raise torches to stage agitation against the authorities.

The dearness allowance of central employees has increased from 17 to 28 per cent, while the government servants and pensioners of Chhattisgarh state only 12 per cent dearness allowance from January 1, 2019.  The state employees have lagged behind the central employees by 16 per cent.  Due to this, there is a financial loss of 4-5 thousand rupees per month in the salary.

Their demand is departmental promotion – acceptance of timely pay, regularization of irregular employees, restoration of old pension schemes, regularization of casual-loaded class IV employees, promotion of Patwaris and issuing laptops for official use.  In support of the establishment of Pension Processing Cell and other demands in State, Chhattisgarh Employees Officers Federation has also agitated in four phases.
