Chhattisgarh: The High Court will resume physical hearing of cases from September 6 in a limited manner. The Registrar General issued a standard of Operating Procedure for the same. In his order, he has asserted the lawyer’s and petitioners follow COVID protocols whilst attending the hearing. He also informed penalty against those defying rules along on with barring them from entering the court premises in future.

As per the SOP issued by Deepak Kumar Tiwari, Registrar General of High Court, masks have been mandated, social distancing and use of sanitisers are also asserted. As for the submission of the documents of the case only two lawyers will be allowed to visit the HC.  In case if a party demands a hearing through video conferencing, the decision of the case will be taken by the bench of the concerned. Court.

The HC had stalled offline hearing of the almost 17 months before as the pandemic prevailed. It has been hearing cases through video-conferencing since March last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and several bar bodies and lawyers have been demanding that physical hearings should resume immediately. However, the court continued to hear cases through online portals like the Zoom app and Blue Jeans app till recent days.
