New Delhi: India reported 37,593 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry reported. The recovery rate at 97.67 per cent accounted for 34,169 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,17,54,281. The daily positivity rate stood at 2.10 per cent, less than 3 per cent for the last 30 days.

The number of active cases has stood at 3,22,327 accounting for 0.99 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a rise by 2,776 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.34 per cent reported 648 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,35,758.

Maharashtra leads the states in overall cases. While Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh reported zero COVID linked deaths in the past 24 hours. In the Northeastern region, Mizoram has registered 740 cases, making the most affected.

On Tuesday, India’s first m-RNA based COVID-19 vaccine, indigenously being developed by Gennova Biopharmaceuticals was approved for further clinical trials on Tuesday.

 ICMR tested 17,92,755 infected samples in the past 24 hours, which took the cumulative count to 51.11 crore. As per MoHFW, 61.90 lakh beneficiaries were vaccinated in the past 24 hours. So far India vaccinated 59.55 crore citizens under the national vaccination drive.
