New Delhi: India recorded 30,549 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry reported. The recovery rate at 97.38 percent accounted for 38,887 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,08,96,354. Meanwhile, Odisha’s Bhubaneswar has achieved the milestone of becoming the first city in the country to achieve 100 per cent vaccination coverage against COVID-19.
The daily positivity rate stood at 1.85 per cent, less than 5 per cent. The active caseload stands at 4,04,958 accounting for 1.28 per cent of the total number of cases. 8,760 active cases were reported in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.34 per cent reported 422 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,25,195.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has also stressed upon the importance of vaccination. In their latest tweet, MoHFW urged the masses to get vaccinated.
Bhubaneswar has become the first Indian city to achieve 100 per cent vaccination against COVID-19. In addition to this, one lakh migrant labourers have also administered their first dose in the capital city.
“100 percent of the population in Bhubaneshwar have been vaccinated against COVID-19”, said the South-east Zonal Deputy Commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation. He further added that they have vaccinated 9,07,000 people above the age of 18 years and have administered 18,35,000 total COVID doses till now.
