Iran has reportedly offered the U.S. a nuclear proposal via Qatar as tensions between Tehran and Washington pick up again. The offer will only be considered after the United States responds to Tehran’s seven demands at least, reports cite a top Iranian official, saying the deal was still up for discussion.
Washington was looking into the possibility of the plan but the official, who requested anonymity, wouldn’t go into any further specifics.
Earlier this week, Iran’s top security official Mohsen Rezaei had said Tehran had raised seven conditions with the US which it wanted to consider for negotiations.
Iran’s Seven Conditions Remain Unofficial
An official list of Iran’s seven conditions has not been made public.
Reports, however, indicate Tehran might be asking for an end to hostilities, an end to the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports and the abolition of any sanctions.
Other factors cited are the return of Iran’s frozen wealth and a decrease in the U.S. military presence in the area, as well as war damages compensation and cease-fire from attacks on Iran’s territory.
Meanwhile, Washington has insisted that nuclear matters be part of the first talks.
Trump Keeps Pressure on Tehran
It is being proposed as mediators push for a truce between Iran and the United States that would avoid another confrontation.
Recently, President Donald Trump threatened Iran again and hasn’t ruled out an increase in conflicts.
Iran has also threatened more widespread sanctions if the war starts again.
The diplomatic offer might be a major step in the right direction amid escalating pressure on both sides to avoid another round of fighting.
