In response to any new act of aggression by the United States, Iran military is ready to respond against America with a “maximum deterrence” plan,” it says.
International reports have cited Iranian military officials in reporting their updated list of assets to include US and Israeli assets, in a wider geographical reach. The alert comes as tensions in the Middle East are growing and worries about the possibility of an escalation between Washington and Tehran are rising.
Oil Tanker Hit Near Strait of Hormuz
In the meantime, two “unknown projectiles” hit an oil tanker near the Strait of Hormuz, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).
The incident comes days after a statement by Iran Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) saying three oil tankers had blown up following being hit by naval mines while transiting through the strategically vital waterway without permission.
As one of the most important shipping lanes in the world, the Strait of Hormuz has the potential to become another center of concern regarding the security of the sea lanes and world energy supply if a crisis were to spread there.
Fresh Strikes Reported in Yemen
There have also been ongoing tensions in Yemen, with Yemeni media backed by the House of Saud’s military alliance alleging four air strikes by Saudi coalition forces on the central city of al-Bayda.
The outlet also said that the Ghamr district of Saada governorate near the Saudi Arabian border had been shelled.
The latest developments underscore the prevailing tensions and escalating threats for a broader regional war, as military engagements continue, and maritime incidents increase the fears of further conflict in the Middle East.
