India scripted history at the Hylo Open 2026 in both men and women singles title bringing home double glory. The duo were awarded a cash prize of more than USD 35,000 each for their stellar performance at Saarlandhalle in Saarbrucken, Germany, on Sunday.

PV Sindhu became the first Indian woman to win the Hylo Open women’s singles crown, beating Denmark’s Line Kjaersfeldt 21-12, 21-14 in the final. The second seed and eighth in the badminton rankings, took just 39 minutes to brush aside world No. 25.

At the second BWF tournament finale, the double Olympic medallist dominated the game to grab the title to her name since the Japan Open Super 750 in July. It was her first individual crown since December 2024. Overall, she now has seven BWF World Tour titles to her name.

Lakshya Sen who grabbed the title for the second time also became the first Indian to do so. Sen had won the Hylo back in 2021, but this was crucial after a torrid time on the Tour this year with 8 first round exits post the All England finals. He wrapped the performance with 21-10 to win the final against Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie.

Christie who maintains his World No 6 rank, has been known for his ability to nail the corners. But he struggled throughout to find his range. He led 4-3 in H2H prior to this, but hasn’t quite recovered from the stinging loss pounded on him by Sen at the Olympics. His consistency helps him reach deeper into draws, but titles gave eluded him this year even as Alwi Farhan and Ubaidillah have emerged from the Indonesian badminton factory.

This was Sen’s 7th career title and his first since winning Australia Open last season.
