Delhi Police detained a woman in connection with 12 older cases linked to an interstate drug trafficking network stretching from the national capital to Rajasthan, seizing heroin, cash and precious metals from her possession.
The accused, 42-year-old Parvati, was arrested along with her alleged accomplice and bodyguard, 30-year-old Vikas Kumar, alias Shanu. The arrests were made in New Sanoth Colony in Bawana, North Delhi. The investigation so far has resulted in three arrests.
According to the police, Parvati had been involved in drug trafficking for a long time and had nearly 12 cases registered against her under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and the Excise Act. She was also listed on the ‘bad character history sheet’ maintained by the Narela Industrial Area police station.
The arrests were made based on a tip received by the Anti-Narcotics Squad of Delhi’s Outer District on September 23 about an alleged drug supply syndicate operating in New Sanoth Colony.
When the police raided the second floor of a house in the colony, Parvati and Vikas Kumar, who was living with her, were arrested during the operation. Drugs worth Rs 1.5 crore were recovered from the accused at the time of the arrest, the police said.
Parvati, wife of Niaz, lives in a rented house in New Sanoth Colony in Bawana. Her permanent address is her sister’s residence in JJ Colony, Bawana. According to the police, Vikas, who worked as Parvati’s bodyguard, also stayed with her in the apartment.
Police said Parvati was building a house with money allegedly earned through drug trafficking. A Harrier belonging to her was also seized.
During the raid, the police seized cash, 355 grams of gold, 161 grams of silver and registration documents related to four properties.
The police have alleged that the cash, jewellery and properties were acquired through the proceeds of drug trafficking.
