Indian shooters added three more medals to India’s medal tally on Day 2 of the international event, clinching silver in the men’s 10m air rifle team event before Himanshu Dhillon and former world champion Rudranksh Patil secured silver and bronze, respectively, in the individual final.
Dhillon scored 52.4 points to finish behind China’s Lihao Sheng, who scored 254.2, while Rudranksh clinched bronze with 230.9 points. The men’s feat comes a day after the women’s 10m air rifle shooters clinched two medals.
Suchika Tariyal lost on her way to the finals, closing her campaign with a bronze medal in the women’s traditional 60kg mixed martial arts event after losing 0-2 to Singapore’s Hui Hoon Teo in the extra round of the semi-final in Nagoya, Japan, on Monday.
Suchika’s bronze is India’s first medal in mixed martial arts, which made its debut at the ongoing Asian Games.
The medal tally for India now stands at 6, with 4 silver and 2 bronze, as of Day 2.
The Indian men’s badminton team thumped Bangladesh 3-0 to advance to the quarter-finals. Lakshya Sen, Ayush Shetty and Krishnan Srikant did not drop a single game in a dominant performance and set up a clash with Japan on Tuesday. The women’s team will also face Japan in the last-eight stage.
Indian Wushu athlete Nyeman Wangsu finished 15th in the women’s Changquan final, scoring 9.573 points in the 16-strong field at the Aichi Prefectural Martial Arts Hall.
