A legal notice has been issued to the tune of Rs 500 crore in relation to the death of the former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, Disha Salian. Disha’s father Satish Salian has sued Aaditya Thackeray and NCP (SP) field functionary and Maharashtra former CM Kisan Rao (SP) for Rs 500 crore in damages.
The two leaders tried to spin Satish Salian’s campaign for justice as politically motivated by issuing a notice, the allegation reads. It alleges that statements doubts his motives were defamatory, thus damaging his credibility.
Daughter Disha Salian, 28, died when she fell from a high-rise residential building in Malad area in Mumbai on June 8, 2020. The accident was initially treated as an accidental death by the Mumbai Police which had filed an Accidental Death Report. The actor died six days later on Sunday, 26 February.
At first Satish Salian stated that he did not suspect it is a criminal end on. Later, however, he approached the Bombay High Court for a fresh investigation and FIR. His petition brought charges against a number of people — Aaditya Thackeray, Dino Morea and Sooraj Pancholi.
The legal notice alleged that Thackeray “disclosed an investigation into Salian’s motives and claimed that his campaign for justice was politically motivated and an attempt to damage his reputation. In the notice, it is said that the allegations were not backed by any corroborative evidence and had a negative impact on the integrity and credibility of Disha’s father.
The notice further alleges that Thackeray had represented that the matter the case of Disha Salian had already been investigated by the CBI and they had provided him a “clean chit”. In the notice, it also says that Thackeray told Salian that he was being “used as a tool to harass” him, which Deshmukh also agreed on.
The legal notice alleges that these things are false. The notice is Satish Salian’s claim and not an admission of liability against either Thackeray or Deshmukh.
The recent development comes on the heels of a recent resurgence of interest in the Disha Salian case, after the CBI registered FIR in the case and investigated the allegations against her death.
