The UK, France, and Canada government have announced sanctions against Israeli West Bank settlements in support of a two-state solution. Banning goods from the region, the UK’s Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband said that the countries are part of an international coalition.
Miliband said that Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Poland, Portugal and Sweden have pledged to “support further action.” The Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium, Spain and Norway have either banned goods from settlements or are in the process of doing so, he said, as per media reports.
Earlier on Tuesday, two Palestinian were killed as Israeli occupation forces continued attacks across the Gaza Strip in violation of the ceasefire agreement. According to medical sources a69-year-old Palestinian man died from wounds sustained when Israeli occupation forces opened fire toward tents housing displaced people southwest of Khan Yunis. Another Palestinian was wounded in the same attack. Separately, a Palestinian died from wounds sustained in an Israeli drone strike west of Khan Yunis on Friday.
Eyewitnesses and local sources told reporters that several Israeli military vehicles made a limited advance in the Abu al-Ajin area, east of Deir al-Balah. The advance was accompanied by heavy gunfire and artillery shelling. Israeli vehicles, including a military bulldozer, reportedly moved dozens of meters west of the Yellow Line and began bulldozing Palestinian land.
The Yellow Line demarcates areas of Israeli military deployment under the ceasefire arrangement, but Israeli forces have repeatedly carried out attacks and incursions beyond it.
Despite the ceasefire, Israeli attacks have continued throughout the Gaza Strip, with Palestinians killed and wounded by airstrikes, drone attacks, artillery fire and shootings.
