The kingpin involved in the alleged irregularities in the recruitment examinations conducted by Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) was arrested by the state CID on Thursday.
According to the Jharkhand Crime Investigation Department, a state government employee, Abhay Kumar Tiwari was the alleged mastermind who organized a syndicate involved in paper leaks. The agency has claimed the racket was worth nearly Rs 40 crore, along with hefty sum of money in exchange of unfair advantage in recruitment examination.
As the probe deepened, speculations about Tiwari’s examination record also arose. CID officials said he cleared 12 competitive examinations over the past 13 years, and investigators are now examining whether there is any link between those successes and the alleged recruitment scam. His selection history is now being digged as a part of the ongoing investigation.
It further alleged that Tiwari operated a network involving multiple accused of leaking question papers, manipulating the recruitment examination, and collecting crores of rupees from candidates. The investigation is underway to identify the others involved in the racket and determine their roles.
The arrest comes amidst the protest going on in Jharkhand over alleged irregularities in JPSC and JSSC recruitment examinations. Candidates have been demanding a fair investigation, strict action against those responsible, and a transparent probe into the entire recruitment process.
So far, 19 have been arrested and the probe is underway.
