In honor of legendary singer and actor Kishore Kumar’s birth anniversary, fans from all over India and the world flocked to his hometown of Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, to pay their respects.

Kishore Kumar’s fans flooded his memorial and cut a cake in his honour as well as thrown milk and jalebis, favoured by the actor, for the actor, who spent his life wishing for happiness for everyone. Devotees also serenaded some of his immortalistic songs, recalling the great playback singer who is inspiring for generations.

People from the cities like Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh attended the event from Khandwa. Many also took a trip to Kishore Kumar’s childhood home in Bombay Bazaar, to immerse themselves in the nostalgia of the past and gain insight into the life of one of India’s most beloved actors.

There were various cultural programmes organised in sequence which were a part of the celebrations conducted by the Khandwa Municipal Corporation and Kishore Sanskritik Prerna Manch. Artists and music fans held music tributes everyday honoring the irreplacable late singer.

The most striking part of the festivities will be the big ‘Kishore Night’ complete in the night in the Old Grain Market in the city. In what is certainly a welcome addition, top playback singers Vinod Rathod, P. Ganesh and Pragati Joshi will sing some of Kishore Kumar’s timeless melodies, conjuring up all the magic that he created.

Known for his prowess as a singer, actor, composer, lyricist, and director, Kishore Kumar’s music and performances continue to touch people across the generations and generations to come, cementing his legacy as a timeless star in Indian cinema.
