The Madhya Pradesh government has added momentum to its preparations regarding the Bhojshala issue and sought other spots to provide namaz as directed by Supreme Court.
The officials are working on open government land in the near distillery area at Dhar district with the deployment of three JCB machines to level and clear the land. The administration has laid the groundwork for two locations with a radius of more than 500 metres from Bhojshala.
The other one is situated some 500 metres upstream of the 40 Peer Dargah where the revenue officers are overseeing the ongoing land development process.
Administrative officials have said that Muslim community members are not keen on prayers at the 40 Peer Dargah and authorities have suggested making alternative arrangements.
Police and district authorities met with members of the Muslim community on the prior night to try to solve the problem. But no delegation showed up for discussions so the administration couldn’t get an agreement on proposed sites.
It is believed that it may be difficult to persuade the community to accept communities prepared with the new sites. Although preparations continue, no official statement has been made regarding Friday prayers at the identified sites or any future prayers at those sites.
The administration has been claiming that it was just the need of the hour as per directions of Supreme Court to maintain the law and order in the sensitive Bhojshala region.
Additional meetings with community leaders will be held prior to deciding on the approved prayer space location.
