Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav lashed out against Congress at the Balram Krishi Mahotsav, accusing the opposition of ignoring farmers, women and poor people who were the “real power” during the Congress’ rule for decades.
During his speech, Yadav talked about the success of the BJP government’s irrigation projects, welfare for farmers, Ladli Behna Yojana and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s various government schemes and support for the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).
The Chief Minister said that the BJP government only had 7.5 lakh hectares of land under irrigation while the incumbent government had extended it to 65 lakh hectares in the state. He said that Congress had failed to modernise irrigation facilities, which it ruled over for almost 55 years, and should apologise to the farmers.
Yadav also alleged the Congress was letting politicians grow fat while the farmers and poor families had to suffer. The BJP government has modernized agriculture with the introduction of natural farming, organic agriculture, better irrigation system, use of drones to fertilise crops and more, he has said.
The Chief Minister also revealed over ₹3,300 crore have been sent directly to the farmers’ bank accounts in the state, who are more than 82 lakh in number. He attributed Prime Minister Modi’s PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme for farmer’s one time financial support to this, unprecedented financial support had been given to farmers for the first time.
Yadav said there will be no indirect assistance of money to women when the government grants them direct financial support on Bharu Ladli Behna Yojana, as the BJP government is doing so.
He also reaffirmed his call for introducing the Uniform Civil Code and abolition of three shares or triple talaq as essential steps to achieving the equal rights and contributing to the dignity of women.
