India National team assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate is reportedly thinking of walking away from the country’s football team after the current ODI series with England. The former Dutch international cricketer legattrained for India reportedly told BCCI that he plans to retire from the game now, though July 19, the third ODI’s date at Lord’s is the likely final day he will work with Team India.

Sources say it lies squarely with the personal choice and not due to dissatisfaction towards the job. Ten Doeschate is thought to be settled on his first two-year term with the BCCI and is keen on spending more time with his family in London. He has been reported to be looking for a coaching job without the excessive travelling requirements as his wife goes to work and his three young sons demand more of his time.

But it’s also thought to be the lack of a clear role in the Indian coaching system. Fielding is one of his strong points, though but T Dilip is already India’s designation fielding coach and does not have to shoulder the burden of ten Doeschate in this area.

He wants to get out; but it is set to be a friendly one, anyway. Head coach Gautam Gambhir has recommended his appointment, and he is closely associated with the coach who took over the Indian team.

But Gambhir might still sway him to join India as they are in a bad batch in T20 cricket. The England ODI series will be concluded after which a final decision is likely to be made.
