Indore: The latest transfer list of revenues officers of the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has drawn flak from the officials who are supposed to investigate the fake property mutation cases, as the corporation has been accused of appointing its official who was in that case associated with the fake property mutation.
Mayur Patil, who had come into limelight during the investigation into allegedly bogus property mutation, has been appointed the coveted job of Assistant Revenue Officer (ARO) at the municipality’s headquarters, it is claimed. This decision has raised questions about the transfer process in the corporation and administration transparency.
Earlier the fake mutation cases have been investigated with some officials supposedly under scanner. In this context, the criticism towards the appointment of Patil has come from workers as well as critics.
It has also been claimed that the fresh transfer list has come up with a list of less experienced officers for important duties while putting experienced officers aside. The “transfers” are allegedly not based on merit or administrative efficiencies, but are more a matter of personal preferences, critics say.
Another big question on the table is why a name that was said to have been on the agenda for a sensitive investigation was assigned to an important position before he had the investigation completed. The transfer has raised a host of new issues relating to transparency and accountability of the corporation.
The revenue department’s officials have also asked the government to publish the criteria for making the transfer list so that there is fairness and transparency in the process of giving jobs to new officials.
This controversy has continued to mount with the eyes now focusing on how the company has replied and on the progress of the ongoing fake property mutation probe.
