The Uttarakhand government has sanctioned financial and administrative investments of nearly Rs 495 crore for the development of infrastructure, public welfare projects, and urban local bodies along with preparation for the 2027 Kumbh Mela. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami gave his approval for the proposals in the high-level developmental works held in the state.

Majority of the sanctioned resources have been earmarked for “Road Development & Improvement” in various districts such as Dehradun, Haridwar, Pithoragarh, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar. The projects range from the rebuilding of major motor vehicles roads to making villages more connected, expansion of transport lines, etc.

The government has also approved electricity infrastructure spending worth Rs 43.87 crore to support the Kumbh Mela 2027, out of which the first tranche of a funding of Rs 17.55 crore has been released to facilitate uninterrupted power supply during the Mela.

The urban infrastructure project sanctioned under the package consists of Rs 38.58 crore for the multi-level parking structure at Ramnagar, the adaptation of an adventure park at Champawat, and construction of the Regional Transport Organisation building at Dehradun.

Furthermore, the state has sanctioned Rs 328.28 crore as financial assistance to urban local bodies and Rs 82.21 crore for district panchayats in the second quarter of financial year 26-27. The government has also raised dearness allowance of the employees under Fifth and Sixth Central Pay Commission Pay Scales.

Other approved projects are beautification of religious sites, establishment of a Women Technology Park in Champawat, constructing a bathing ghat in Champawat district and setting up a child care centre at the Civil Judge Court in Didihat as part of the state’s infrastructure and public welfare drive.
