An American female has taken to social networks in order to sensationally contrast costs of health care facilities in the USA and India, alleging that Americans are actually being “robbed” by costly medications as well as Indians are getting economical treatment.

The woman, who is identified as “Liz,” pointed out the difference in costs of a cancer drug prescribed for her aunt in a statement on Instagram: “Indian vs American Healthcare”.

Liz says that her aunt has a blood cancer that’s treated by Revlimid. She alleges that the price of a prescription pill in the U.S. is approximately $900, whereas in India, the price of a generic version of the same medicine is in the range starting at ₹35 to ₹300 per pill.

“India is not like America where medicines are expensive,” Liz said, “In India, its people get affordable healthcare for them.”

The video has already garnered more than 7.7 lakh views on the social media, where there were several comments by social media users in favor of India’s healthcare system and the generics that allow it to offer the medicines at affordable rates.

Some users mentioned the government hospitals in India where treatment for grave diseases happen to be free or subsidised cost there and one user recommended to the American investors to buy medicines for them in India in order to save the money.

The viral comparison has once again been a talking point online regarding how low-cost health care and prescriptions are in the US as compared to India.
