Rajasthan witnessed several major developments on Friday, with preparations underway for the inauguration of the Pachpadra Refinery, a market shutdown announced in Ajmer over a theft incident, and the state government initiating the process of converting 300 English-medium schools back to Hindi medium.

The Chief Secretary and Director General of Police travelled to Jodhpur in advance of the historic opening of the Pachpadra Refinery in Barmer on July 4 to assessment administrative and security plans for the occasion.

Traders are holding a protest rally in Ajmer Kesarganj area, announcing a market closure in protest of theft in three shops in the area near a police outpost. The incident has angered nearby business owners, who want more hefty security measures and celeration against perpetrators’ action.

Taking another important step, the Rajasthan government has started the task of switching 300 schools of the English Medium School to the Hindi Medium school as they got less enrolment.

District Educational Officers (DEOs) informed that they should send detailed reports within a week after the identification of schools with inadequate admission of students on five parameters and their names should be sent to Director of Secondary Education (DSE).

The decision is likely to give a new direction to the state’s school education policy as the government will relook at how English medium government schools are working and enrolling students before making the final decision.
