While there is increasing debate on land acquisition linked with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s family, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has rallied behind the incumbent of the field, alleging that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is planning a political game with its own Chief Ministers.
In response to reporters in Lucknow, Akhilesh has responded from the opposite side, saying that the matter was being dialled up rowley to set the stage for “leadership changes” in the BJP. He said the ruling party are seeking excuses to topple several Chief Ministers, including Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan’s.
The squander that flared up over control after the media report alleged that members of Mohan Yadav’s family and related real-estate organisations had bought many land parcels within and around Ujjain post his appointment as chief minister in December, 2023. The report indicated that some of the plots were in the vicinity of plots which were later granted development clearance, an allegation of conflict of interest was raised.
The former president of Congress in Madhya Pradesh Jitu Patwari quoting the report, accused the chief minister of abusing his powers. Akhilesh, however, has not taken a day off from the real estate business since coming to the chief minister’s office and wondered why the BJP was raising doubts on the transactions.
