Chhattisgarh Congress president Deepak Baij has said that the party chief got a chance to watch a bloodletting at the Chief Minister’s residence after he hosted a marathon meeting where Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and members of his cabinet had a big row over the government’s performance and also the functioning of administration.
Ministers are reportedly meeting at the Chief Minister’s bungalow Thursday night, staying there until around 2 a.m., because of the urgency of the situation, Baij said. He claimed the Chief Minister had criticized Ministers for their performance and that the work of Ministers was not satisfactory. As a result, ministers, allegedly, made a demand for the review of the Chief Minister’s functioning in addition to that.CADES’s activities were apparently documented by the police. It is alleged that during the meeting, the functioning of the Chief Minister was also called for review, which reportedly prompted anger among Ministers.CADES’s activities were documented by the police.
Baij alleged that the episode is an example of the “newly emerging conflict” between the BJP government and the party’s institutions. He also claimed the state government has failed in several spheres and recommended that it might witness further political turbulence in coming days. The Congress President said people are now waiting to see if any of the ministers in the government are going to resign.
The Congress chief also questioned the issue of “over-pricing of liquor” in the state. He questioned the government over the whereabouts of the extra amount spent in liquor sales, and asked about the central agency’s investigation into the issue.
In a comeback attempt, Baij raised the matter of Congress training camp in the response to the Chief Minister’s comments and “the Congress leaders must first solve the issues in the Congress government”. He has levelled charge against seven ministers lacking confidence with “Chief Minister” and sarcastically appealed BJP leaders to join Congress training programme at Abhanpur.
Baij also spoke about the delegation of the Maharashtra legislature which visited Chhattisgarh to learn more about procurement of paddy. He asked the delegation to discuss with the farmers regarding their problems and issues in agricultural welfare schemes and agricultural procurements in the state.
