The US Vice president has shelved his planned visit to Switzerland for the signing of the MoU said the White House spokesperson citing unresolved logistic issues surrounding the upcoming trip. While the US delegation remains ready to depart, officials said arrangements for the negotiations have not yet been finalized. Vance indicated the trip could take place later this weekend as Washington and Tehran prepare for the next phase of talks.

“As of now the Vice President is not departing tonight. We will let you know as soon as we have a concrete update about next step. We look forward to beginning technical talks as soon as possible,” the spokesperson added.

The development comes a day after the US president and his Iranian counterpart signed the 14 point MoU aiming to end the hostilities between the two nations.

Meanwhile, Iranian Parliament Speaker and lead negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned that Tehran would not tolerate any breach of the memorandum of understanding by the United States. Taking to X, he said Iran would respond forcefully to any “bad faith, breach of contract, and excessive demands” by Washington. The remarks underscore lingering tensions despite the recently signed US-Iran agreement aimed at reducing hostilities.

Elswhere in Lebanon, Hezbollah claimed to have destroyed three Israeli Merkava tanks and were engaged in ongoing clashes with Israeli forces near the Ali al-Taher hills in southern Lebanon. State media also reported that Israeli drone strikes in southern Lebanon killed three people, while Israel said one of its soldiers was killed and seven others were wounded in separate incidents.

Residents in southern Lebanon are returning home after the US-Iran deal raised hopes of ending the regional war, but uncertainty remains as clashes continue. Many found homes destroyed by Israeli strikes, while fresh fighting between Israel and Hezbollah threatens the fragile ceasefire. Over 1 million people remain displaced across Lebanon.
