Defending champions RCB showed their super courage and made a bold declaration at the the IPL final toss, when they chose to bowl first at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium. RCB had a good shot at clinching a back-to-back IPL title, and so they decided to continue with the formula and select an unchanged side for the biggest clash of the season.
Patidar said that the team was feeling at ease chasing under lights and they wanted to utilise the support they could get for the bowlers in the initial stages of the game. The move was made in the hope that RCB will have built the confidence throughout the successful campaign back to another championship decider.
Gujarat Titans had hardly anything to lose when they decided on the toss. Captain Shubman Gill said that his team had planned to bat first irrespective of the toss. For Gujarat, the Ahmedabad surface looks to be ideal for stroke play and they will be seeking a difficult total against their home fans.
The Titans had only one change in their squad with the introduction of pace bowler Arshad Khan in left arm. The only change in the lineup was the substitution of the final lineup, which had led the team to the final.
The IPL final is set to be an exciting one, with two of the most competitive teams competing against each other. RCB will want to secure early wins after the ball, while Gujarat Titans will be on the hunt to take advantage of home advantage and create a strong 1st innings performance.
