On Tuesday, a huge fire, causing panic to the shop owners and inhabitants of the weekly market near the SECL Korba main hospital at Mudapar, occurred. The fire was reportedly started by a garbage heap and rapidly spread to engulf three nearby shops within a few minutes.

The fire rapidly spread as the witness reported the presence of flammable items in the market area, which contributed to the fire. Without anyone being able to do anything about it, the fire turned into a dire threat as all three stores were burnt to a crisp. Due to thick smoke rising from the market, chaos was witnessed there, where people hurried to save their lives and property, and hurried to the safe places.

Soon after receiving information about the incident, the Manikpur outpost police team reached the spot and started controlling the crowd. Two vehicles of the fire brigade were also immediately deployed to the Korba market area for the weekly markets. The firefighters were on duty for many hours, making tireless efforts to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading.

With a quick response, the fire department was able to foil the potential for a larger disaster since other nearby buildings and businesses were in danger of burning. The fire was put out after hours of effort, easing the worries of local traders and residents.

So far, there are no reports of casualties or injuries. But the owners of the affected shops were alarmed to find themselves bankrupted since all their stock, furniture, etc., were burnt to the ground.

With the exact cause of the Korba market fire still being investigated, officials stated it is unclear what happened. According to initial reports, the fire may have started from an area of rubbish near the market area, but authorities have yet to establish the cause of the incident.

The accident has again brought into the limelight fire safety measures and garbage disposal in the bustling markets of Korba.
