Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh faces ban by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) on grounds of abrupt exist from a film.
The announcement came on Monday evening amid a row with filmmaker-actor-musician Farhan Akhtar over Don 3. Farhan had approached the workers’ body after the actor’s abrupt exit from his film.
FWICE has issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer after Farhan approached them regarding the Don 3 dispute. Following a meeting on Monday, the body instructed the film industry not to work with the actor following his exit. Reports reveal a legal case has been filed against the Dhurandar star.
The dispute had earlier reached the Producers Guild of India, where senior producers reportedly tried to mediate. According to reports, Excel Entertainment claimed that the team had spent heavily on pre-production and locked key plans before Singh’s exit. Other reports said talks around a settlement had not reached a final decision.
Earlier, the association had issued a statement that the complaint was submitted through the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) of which Farhan is a member.”During the press conference, FWICE will officially address the matter and communicate its stand and decision after examining the complaint and the related circumstances,” the statement read.
Akhtar’s last directorial was the 2011 action-thriller Don 2, featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Boman Irani in key roles.
