Pahalgam: In what is a scary realization for many, an NIA chargesheet has brought out the chilling planning involved in the last year’s attack on Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir. According to the investigation carried out, the terrorists who massacred the innocent civilians met for lunch near the picturesque Baisaran meadow just a few hours before shooting them dead.
In an assault that took place last April 22, at least 26 people died as a result, with 25 being the Indians. In the lengthy NIA chargesheet obtained by Hindustan Times, it clearly shows how Pakistan played a role in organizing the attack. It specifically states that there were celebratory shots fired by the assailants after carrying out the massacre.
As far as the NIA chargesheet goes, it contains detailed accounts on the planning of the attack. The whole plan was orchestrated and organized by Sajid Saiffullah Jatt, better known as Langda, one of the main leaders of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and its wing, The Resistance Front (TRF).
The Jatt is said to have provided exact digital coordinates for the Baisaran meadow in order to ensure maximum casualty among the victims. Moreover, forensic evidence along with digital information established the involvement of one of the terrorists with heavy weapons in an earlier terror attack at the strategically important Srinagar-Leh Highway in October 2024.
The chargesheet, which was filed in the special court on December 15 last year, largely depends on data gathered from mobile phones seized, digital footprints and logistic information of the weapons to expose the terror network operating from across the border. The ongoing judicial procedure strengthens the Indian position regarding security challenges emerging from terror modules sponsored by Pakistan.
