The Rajasthan state conducts the door to door data collection operation of census 2027 on Wednesday, as part of a nationwide initiative for house listing and housing census.

The first phase of census collection, from now until June 14, will involve enumerators going to all households in both urban and rural areas throughout Rajasthan to collect complete data on their current housing conditions, as well as their access to basic amenities. According to officials, the goal of this enumeration process is to develop an up-to-date database measuring living standards, housing infrastructure and household facilities across the state.

According to the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, enumerators have been instructed to ask 33 different question types that illustrate specific characteristics of households, including but not limited to; type of material used in construction, number of rooms, availability of drinking water; type of sanitation used, type of electrical service available, type of internet connectivity available, as well as many other important basic amenities.

Vineesh Singvi, Director of Economics and Statistics, stated that the self-enumeration phase had already concluded on May 1 after being initiated on May 1. During the self-enumeration phase that ended on Tuesday, 150,000 households from all regions of Rajasthan submitted their personal information via the online self enumeration option made available by the government.

Officials pointed out that the option to self-enumerate electronically was made available with the intention of reducing the barriers to participating in the census process and encouraging greater participation in addition to collecting more accurate information on the census.
