Yogi Adityanath said the Uttar Pradesh government is rolling out a big recruitment initiative to bolster the education system and would recruit 10,000 teachers and instructors in government schools.
At a felicitation and honourarium distribution programme organized by the Basic Education Department at Lok Bhavan in Lucknow, the chief minister said that the government is keen on enhancing the quality of education and ensuring better student-teacher ratio in schools operated by the Basic Education Council.
A call to recruit 10,000 teachers has already been sent, followed by the recruitment of more teachers in upper primary schools, Adityanath said. The state has also set up an Education Commission for the purpose of streamlining the recruitment of teachers and enhancing their educational standards at various levels, he added.
The chief minister also pointed out measures taken for welfare of part time teachers under the Right to Education (RTE) regime. He said that since 2011-12, teachers who were appointed were not provided with any significant increment in honorarium. The government has now increased their honorarium from the previous ₹10,000 to ₹17,000 per month and announced cashless health insurance coverage for them and their families up to ₹5 lakh.
The government says over 24,000 teachers are working in Uttar Pradesh schools in arts and physical education, work-experience training, etc.
Adityanath asked the teachers to sign-up on the online registration platform set-up by the Basic Education Council for distribution of health cards during a special programme next week. The government’s objective is to create a better working environment, financial security and dignity for all workers in basic education in the state,” he said.
