In the Shikohpur land deal money laundering case being probed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Robert Vadra said on Friday that he has “nothing to hide” after being granted bail by the Rouse Avenue Court here.
While outside the court, Vadra claimed the ED was working “under the command and control of the government” headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has complete confidence in the Indian judiciary and that he will cooperate with the investigation further, he said.
Vadra, who described himself as “fearless,” said that he will withstand any legal action and “answer all the” questions he is asked to face. His remarks were made after he was released on bail by the court in the long-drawn litigation which had been connected with a land deal in Haryana that included an international outcry around a polluted water supply.
Case story is that Skylight Hospitality Private Limited, which had been linked to the Vadra era, had acquired almost 3.5 acres of land in Shikohpur at the cost of ₹7.5 crore in 2008. It has since appreciated by nearly ₹58 crore as of 2012 when real estate major DLF Limited purchased the land.
The ED claims it was one in a larger offence in which the owner of the property had allegedly received proceeds of crime, along with irregularities in approvals of land mutation and development, which bolstered the property’s market value.
The development comes after the BJP government’s relentless efforts to escalate the confrontation between the two political parties, the Congress party continuing to allege harassment by central agencies against opposition leaders and their families.
