In a joint statement, Naagin lead actress Mouni Roy and businessman Suraj Nambiar announced an end to their relationship, ending rumours over the past few days. Disabling the comments on Instagram, the duo shared a collaboration post sharing their mutual statement.
“We note with dismay the unnecessary and intrusive attention into our personal lives by certain quarters of the media,” the statement posted on 14 May read .
The statement highlighted that they chose to part ways after a thoughtful reflection on their evolving personal priorities. Expressing their stance of friendship, the duo mutually decided to cherish their friendship they’ve had over the years. They criticized the media for circulating “fictitious narratives and blatant falsehoods” regarding their personal lives. And requested privacy from public and media houses.
“Attempts have been made to sensationalize our private lives by the circulation of fictitious narratives and blatant falsehoods, which do not reflect the reality of our relationship,” the note added.
Speculation about their separation surfaced when an Instagram user noticed they had unfollowed each other. Subsequently, followers also noticed Suraj Nambiar’s recent photos being removed or archived from Mouni’s profile. Soon after, Suraj’s Instagram account was deactivated, adding further fuel to the speculation. The situation gained more attention when reports surfaced that actor Disha Patani, who is considered close to Mouni, had also unfollowed Suraj on the platform.
The couple got married in January 2022 in Goa in a ceremony that blended Bengali and Malayali traditions.
On the work front, Mouni is prepping for the release of her upcoming film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, which is slated to release in June 2026.
