The wait was over as filmmaker Jeethu Joseph and actor Mohanlal presented the awaited trailer of Drishyam 3 in an eventful ceremony held in Kochi on Saturday. Scheduled to be released on May 21, 2026, which is coincidentally Mohanlal’s birthday, the trailer indicates that Georgekutty’s past will come back to haunt him in ways he had not foreseen.

In the course of the launch, Jeethu Joseph pointed out that whereas Drishyam 1 and Drishyam 2 were about the “perfect cover-up,” the new one focuses on a more “natural” storyline. “I wanted to move away from the same old formula of just a climactic twist in the story,” Joseph revealed. “It’s more of a drama about the psyche of Georgekutty and his family after a decade of the happenings of the previous movies. It is about incidents that are natural for any family surviving under that tremendous amount of pressure.”

The trailer gives an eerie perspective on a man’s life on the verge. It is not simply running away from the police; Georgekutty’s character appears to be haunted by guilt and paranoia. One particular scene within the trailer reveals him expressing apprehension that his own kids would see him as a “criminal” instead of a “protector.” There is a new visual style in this movie trailer since realism prevails over suspense and thriller aesthetics. Is This The End?

Although there had been suggestions about Drishyam 3 being the last installment of the series, Mohanlal made a humorous statement. The superstar addressed the audience at the event, jokingly hinting that the story would go beyond the trilogy. “Let the audience watch this film first,” Mohanlal quipped. “If the love continues, you never know when we might do a fourth and fifth part.
