A layer of high security now covers the national capital after the intelligence agencies gave a serious warning about a possible terror attack against some major political and governmental installations.
According to intelligence agencies, certain information indicates that terror outfits are planning to carry out an attack against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters situated on the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya (DDU) Marg. This security alert covers not only the party’s state unit office but also other important government installations located in Central Delhi.
Tactical Measures Taken Right Away
Following a “high-grade” alert, the Delhi Police, along with the paramilitary forces, has stepped up its presence in the New Delhi district. Barricades have been set up in all approaches to the area on DDU Marg, and special squads, such as the SWAT and Special Cell teams, have been dispatched for providing constant surveillance.
All district units have been instructed to remain alert and maintain close coordination with intelligence agencies and central paramilitary forces, as per the agencies.
“Police have been directed to maintain strict vigil on suspicious movements, unattended objects and vehicles parked in sensitive zones,” said a source.
Security arrangements have also been strengthened at settlements and areas considered vulnerable from a law-and-order perspective; local police are conducting random checking drives and verification exercises.
Senior officers are continuously monitoring the situation and reviewing security arrangements across the city, said the source.
