Chennai: It is unlikely that Vijay Thalapathy will swear in as the CM tomorrow. The governor is not satisfied with the letter submitted by TVK sources report. The actor turned politician has been asked to return with proof of support from at least 118 MLAs in the 234member assembly on Wednesday. The party has acknowledged the directive taking additional time to consolidate the given numbers before their next move.
Following support from five Congress MLAs, taking the number to 113, Vijay still falls short of 5 members to stake claim of the government. He then submitted numbers including 107 signatures of primary members while 5 additional from alliances.
Earlier in the Vijay and members met the Governor at the Lok Bhavan submitting their request to form a government. “I have received a letter from TVK. They will meet me in the evening. They have stated that they have the majority and they should be called for the formation of the government. A new govt will come now,” the Governor said.
Sources reveal, VCK and Left parties are expected to convene tomorrow signaling support to the newly formed party. The alliance is expected to provide additional support required by TVK to achieve the said numbers needed to form the government.
TVK emerged as the single largest part in Tamil Nadu capturing 108 seats across the state, following short by just 10 numbers to stake claim.
