Mayon Volcano of Albay province in the Philippines has once again exploded with great intensity, impacting more than 30000 lives in the island country. Dense smoke clouds are now being released into the atmosphere, while hot lava continues to flow from the crater of the volcano and inundate the surrounding areas.
Thousands of people have been evacuated from the Mayon volcano in Albay province, southeast of Manila, after it re-erupted, sending plumes of ash into the sky and engulfing the surrounding area. The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) reported on Monday that massive ashfall from Mayon Volcano over the weekend has affected at least 30,522 families across 87 barangays (villages) in the region.
In a message to reporters, OCD deputy spokesperson Diego Mariano said the number is equivalent to 102,406 persons, citing data coming from OCD Region 5 (Bicol).
“Of these, 1,438 families (333 families were evacuated last May 2) or 5,440 persons are currently inside evacuation centers, while 26 families or 85 persons are being assisted outside evacuation centers,” he added.
Due to the volcanic eruption, the fifth parameter has been elevated to the third one. Residents have been warned about the danger of further lava, landslides, and eruptions and told not to travel to areas up to 6 kilometers away from this place. The well-known Mayon volcano has a small size and reaches an elevation of about 2,462 meters. There is now a Strombolian eruption of the volcano.
Officials say the volcano is experiencing Strombolian activity, with intermittent eruptions of lava, gas, and volcanic debris. It is the Philippines’ most active volcano and a tourist destination. However, the situation remains unstable. A new pattern has emerged across the state with IMD issuing several thunderstorm and rain alerts for multiple districts in Uttar Pradesh. Although some regions of Uttar Pradesh have already been witnessing the fury of a heatwave for a while, the current changes in the weather are expected to ease off the situation for the residents.
