Jabalpur: On April 30 at Bargi Dam in Jabalpur, there was a tragic cruise accident which resulted in the loss of lives and caused a massive rescue operation. It is said that the accident occurred because of an abrupt storm and powerful winds which made the cruise ship sink in the reservoir.

After the incident, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav was very much saddened and offered his condolences to the grieving families. He offered financial support to the families of the dead in the form of ₹4 lakh each. The Chief Minister assured that the state government was with the affected families and would offer them the support they needed at this hard time.

Rescue crews, such as the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), police officers, and local officials were at once sent to the scene. Top officials such as ministers and the local officials came to the scene to monitor the activities taking place. At least 22 individuals have been saved, according to authorities, with more searches underway to find those still missing.

The administration has increased relief and rescue program and teams are round the clock, trying to find survivors and rescuing those who could not be traced. The cause of the tragedy is also supposed to be researched by authorities in order to avoid such tragedies in the future.

The incident has shrouded the region, as demands have been made to increase safety measures in tourist and other services.
