Salim Dola, Dawood Ibrahim’s close aide and a drug lord, landed in India after he was deported. He reportedly landed at a technical airport in Delhi on Tuesday. Dola, who was arrested in Turkey last week, arrived at the Delhi Technical Airport earlier today under tight security arrangements aboard a special flight.
The extradition marks the successful conclusion of an intense and strategic campaign that involved the Indian intelligence services and law enforcement organizations globally. Dola was operating out of Istanbul, Beylikdüzü district, under false credentials until he was apprehended using rigorous physical and technological means by the Turkish police.
Dola’s deportation comes days after he was detained in Turkey’s Istanbul. Dola was detained in a joint operation by the Turkish national intelligence organisation, MIT and local police units, based on an Interpol red corner notice (RCN).
Breaking Down the ‘D-Company’ Synthetic Drug Trafficking Network
Salim Dola is believed to have been behind a global synthetic drug syndicate worth over ₹5,000 crore. For many years, Indian law enforcement agencies, including the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Mumbai Police, have considered him a critical player in the ‘D-Company’ syndicate, which deals in the production and trafficking of Mephedrone (MD).
“The arrival of Dola marks a significant victory in our battle against organized crime networks. He was the crucial link between the foreign producers and the local consumers,” stated a senior Mumbai Police officer.
