The West Bengal Assembly elections are entering their crucial final stage, and the CAPFs are enhancing their security matrix through a multi-tiered plan of action. With the objective of discouraging any form of intimidation and maintaining a “fear-free” atmosphere, the security forces have devised four distinct operations, namely “All Out,” “Night Dominance,” “Kavach,” and “Trust.”
Speaking to a senior CAPF official, it was reported that the level of deployment would be without precedent. More than 2.4 lakh personnel have been positioned across the state for its final thrust on April 29, along with over 100 armoured and anti-riot vehicles. The “All Out” operation denotes a full-field deployment strategy wherein each unit available is put to use for area dominance.
Kavach and Trust initiatives emphasize security of the polling booths and fostering good relationships with the local community. After the meeting of all Directors General of the CAPFs, including CRPF, BSF, and CISF, held in Kolkata, the “technology-driven security architecture” has been finalized.
Meanwhile, the ECI directed security personnel to carry out constituency-wise deployment and step up area domination exercises in interior lanes and sensitive neighbourhoods to ensure that voters can exercise their franchise without fear.
