Chandigarh: The registration schedule for the “Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana,” a unique scheme for women being launched in Punjab, has been changed. It will now begin on April 15th. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will formally launch the scheme at the Adampur rally on April 14th. This scheme will provide financial benefits to women.

It will start from here. The scheme will be launched in the first phase in Muktsar, Ropar, Patiala, Sangrur, Moga, Jalandhar, and Faridkot districts. Nine assembly constituencies of these districts, namely Malout, Sri Anandpur Sahib, Sunam, Batala, Moga, Patiala Rural, Adampur, Didba, and Kotkapura, have been selected initially. Earlier, this scheme was scheduled to start on April 13, but its date was extended due to the assembly’s special session.

Women will get financial assistance every month

Under this scheme, women aged 18 and over will receive monthly financial assistance. Women in the general category will receive ₹1,000, and women in the Scheduled Caste category will receive ₹1,500 per month. This scheme was announced during the budget on March 8th.

Registration will be free at Anganwadi centers and service centers. An Aadhaar card and a voter ID card from Punjab are mandatory. The scheme funds will be transferred to beneficiaries’ Aadhaar-linked bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

A high-level committee, headed by the Chief Secretary, has been formed to ensure the smooth operation of the scheme. Mobilizers and facilitators will also be deployed for registration and awareness. If a beneficiary dies, the previously received assistance will not be withdrawn, but further installments will not be released.
