In conjunction with the central intelligence agencies, Jammu and Kashmir Police has been stepping up its crackdown on a countrywide logistical system associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). In the process, some of the people have been arrested in Haryana and Rajasthan over allegations of assisting the terrorists in acquiring false identities including forged passports and official documentations.

Authorities announced that the suspects played a key role in offering logistical support by organizing fraudulent documents like Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, and voter IDs. It was claimed that these documents enabled operatives to hide their identities and move freely across the regions, which was a great danger to national security.

Srinagar Police took the lead in the investigation and came up with the network after intelligence led the police to the discovery of the network. When the scope of the operation widened and its connotations grew more important, the involvement of central agencies and police units across several states to break down the larger network was introduced.

Among the most important suspects, one named Umar alias Kharghosh, is suspected to have managed to get a passport with forged documents and escape the country. The police believe that he initially arrived in Indonesia and then proceeded to a Gulf country with a different counterfeit travel certificate.

The security organizations are still undertaking their investigation to establish more connections and curb the abuse of identity documents. The case underscores the increased complexity of terror networks and the need to have inter-agency coordination in countering such threats.
