Jagdalpur. A new and strategic initiative is being launched in Bastar as part of the Naxalite eradication campaign. Surrendered former Naxalites will now teach security forces the nuances of jungle warfare. For this purpose, special training programs will be organized at the Counter Terrorism and Jungle Warfare College in Kanker.
According to reports, 18 former Naxalites who have surrendered from Sukma, Dantewada, Bijapur, and Narayanpur districts will be included in this training. All of these Naxalites are adept at guerrilla warfare, IED making, and planting techniques in the jungle. Now, this experience will be used to train the soldiers.
Under this initiative, soldiers will be trained in Naxalite tactics, particularly techniques for planting and defusing improvised explosive devices (IEDs). This is expected to increase security forces’ vigilance and success during operations.
Bastar IG P. Sundarraj said that through this training, soldiers will better understand the Naxalite methods of planting IEDs. He said that in the past, IED recovery has faced challenges, but now this type of training will enhance both the capabilities and safety of the soldiers.
It’s worth noting that enlisting the help of former Naxalite comrades to defuse the landmines laid by them in the dense forests of Bastar could prove to be a masterstroke. This will not only give the security forces a strategic advantage but also give a new direction to the Naxalite eradication campaign.
