Samay Raina has come out to share the scandal that has surrounded his popular show India’s Got Latent wherein he has had to delete all the episodes of the show after his video editor was arrested by the police.
Raina in a recent video remembered how the show, which used to trend and be extremely popular on the social media crashed down overnight after a controversial comment by a guest. The remark prompted a lot of anger with several FIRs filed against the producers of the show, including Raina himself.
He said that although the show was a big success, it had to be shut down due to pressure, with more than 4 crore unique monthly viewers and millions of fans. Raina told that on the time when he was in the United States, the Mumbai Police called him to request that he take down all episodes on YouTube. He first declined claiming that he believed in the freedom of speech, but authorities then arrested his video editor, and he had no choice but to acquiesce.
Raina was extremely affected by the incident claiming she was devastated by the event. His statement sheds light on the broader debate around content regulation, creative freedom, and legal boundaries in India’s digital entertainment space.
