There was a significantly cooler morning in Delhi-NCR as those living in the region awoke to light to moderate rains falling down in various regions in the national capital and surrounding areas, like Noida, Ghaziabad and Gurugram. The rainy season relieved the heat that had been increasing and the skies were overcast with occasional showers up to the early morning.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that there would be light to moderate rain with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 30-40km/h in various regions of Delhi. The areas that were of the most likely to experience such activity were India Gate, Akshardham, Safdarjung, Palam, IGI Airport, Vasant Vihar, Lajpat Nagar, Kalkaji, Hauz Khas and Mehrauli among others.
NCR areas like Greater Noida, Faridabad, Manesar and Ballabhgarh were also predicted to have similar weather conditions. The IMD has placed a yellow alert on both Tuesday and Wednesday, advising its residents of potential thunderstorms and light rains over the two days.
The department has forecasted another low in the temperatures and the highest temperatures are expected to be around 31 C with the lowest temperatures being around 20 C on Wednesday. But, after April 10, there is a likelihood of an increase in temperature.
Meteorologists explain this weather abrupt change by the alteration in wind patterns and the impact of a western disturbance that will leave intermittent cloud cover and scattered rainfall in the region in the next two days.
