Serious negligence of the health department has come to light in Civil Hospital Amarpatan of Maihar district of Madhya Pradesh. Sandeep Saket, a resident of Karaundi Chapna, had brought his 6-year-old son, Sameer to the hospital for treatment. It is alleged that while collecting the medicines prescribed by the doctor from the hospital, the pharmacist handed over an expired medicine. This medicine is used to cure vomiting. The family got suspicious when the expiry date of the medicine was not clearly visible. After checking online, it was found that the concerned medicine had expired in February 2026 itself, whereas the current date is April 2026. Due to alertness, the medicine was not given to the child and the potential danger was averted.

A complaint regarding the matter has also been filed on the Chief Minister’s Helpline 181, a copy of which raises questions about the availability and quality of medicines at the hospital. The complaint demands an investigation and action. The family says that if the negligence had not been detected in time, the child’s life could have been in danger. The incident has raised serious questions about the hospital’s management and medicine distribution system.

The victim, Sandeep Saket, said he had taken his child, Sameer, to the Amarpatan Civil Hospital for vomiting and diarrhea. After examining him, the doctors prescribed him medication and told him to get it from the outpatient department. When he went to collect the medication, the date on the label was erased. Suspicious, his family scanned it on Google to check. The medication was found to be expired. The expiry date was February 2026.

When the family approached the doctor, he said, “Throw this medicine away and I will give you another one.” When their pleas were not heard, they went to the in-charge, Dr. Himanshu Pandey. He too dismissed their pleas, saying, “Throw this away and I will give you another one.” When their pleas were not heard, they filed a complaint with the Chief Minister’s helpline and demanded action against the person concerned.
